About Jarrod Purifoy

I’ve dedicated my whole working life to public service. I have been blessed to have served the City of Camden on the Camden Fire Department for 20 years, where I currently serve as the Assistant Fire Chief on C Shift. Firefighters work a unique shift where we are afforded time to work a second career. Law enforcement, of course, is mine.

Working in law enforcement and firefighting has allowed me to experience and train in various emergency services. Both aim to serve and protect citizens, but at the same time have a wide spectrum of responsibilities. I’ve trained in various public safety roles, such as EMS, where I once obtained my EMT license. I have trained in everything from how to extricate someone from a mangled car or rescue someone from a burning building to delivering a baby, all the way to training in law enforcement in various spectrums.

I have met many people during my journey in public service. Many are on the worst days of their lives. I believe that to get respect, you have to give respect, and I try my best to do just that. From a criminal to a car accident victim, I’ve always done my best to show respect. Sometimes, people make bad decisions, but that does not mean that they are bad people; therefore, they should be given the same respect as anyone else.

I serve in leadership roles where I am involved in budget development and management. I have been in involved in the purchase of over 3 million dollars of rolling stock and countless other dollar amounts of general equipment between the various Police and Fire Departments where I serve. I have received training and certification in Chief Officer roles. I have also earned an Associate's Degree from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia Arkansas.

I am well versed in command of various emergency situations and feel I am the best choice to take the Ouachita County Sheriff's Office forward.

"I have known this young man since before he started kindergarten!!!! Our county needs a honest, dependable, God-fearing, family man with integrity to take this office. Let’s get out there and VOTE!!!

"I've known Jarrod Purifoy for along time. We've worked together in the fire service both career and volunteer for many years. I have also had numerous experiences over the years with him as a deputy sheriff. If I had to pick one thing to describe Jarrod it would be his passion for being a public servant. His love for this county and the people in it is like none other. He is a fair and honest man. Without a doubt I know that as Sheriff he will strive to always do what is best for our community. Jarrod has the law enforcement and leadership experience to be a great Sheriff for Ouachita County."
